Wife and I replacing some countertops in the kitchen. Going with a Brazilian marble. One of the slabs at the fabricator (color we really like) is cracked clean through the slab. Fabricator is offering a steep discount in price and telling me that once they epoxy the crack, it’ll look like new.

Should I believe them, or are they full of shite?

Take the discount and tell them you want to approve the repair.

The marble may already have fillers or repairs from the distributor or quarry.

P.S. It may have been possible to repair it without you knowing. I give them credit for honesty.

Worse case, have them replace the stone.

I agree, take the discount with the ability to veto if it doesn't look up to your standards. That being said, I have seen pieces cracked and put back together where you couldn't find the seam even knowing it was there.

just to add, confirm in writing they will warranty the repair if it cracks again in the future.
