Carpet grass

I have some low areas in the backyard that I'm planning on filling with river silt. I'm considering sowing carpet grass seed instead of sod. Any thoughts?

Don’t use river silt unless you want an infestation of weeds and torpedograss

This must be where I went wrong. I have stickers like crazy. I wonder if this was started by the river silt I brought in.

Some herbicides are going to target carpet grass.
