What’s the going rate for a 5ft aluminum fence? Say for 400ft.

You need to be more specific than that. There's many different styles of that type fencing and all of them vary according to how intricate they are if going for the faux wrought iron look.

Now it depends on how tall you want it. I've seen, with a quick net search, panels 5 ft. high by 8 ft. long going for $135-150 per panel, then you have to figure in the posts, caps, bolts to tie it all together, labor, etc.

My neighbor has this very same fence, only 6 ft. tall and it was there when he bought the house, so he has no idea of the cost. One thing I do notice about it is the paint they used to finish it doesn't last long and much of the fence is showing bare metal, especially around the areas of the joints.

So you paid ~$22 a ft. That seems to be a good price. If you could post pictures of the type of fence you have I would appreciate it. Like others have said, there’s a lot of variety in fences so I’m curious as to what you get for each cost range

I’m not home right now but it looks identical to the picture in the post except for the “spikes” (whatever you call them ) on top of the rail.

When we bought, we bought direct from Iron fence shop (yes it is aluminum and not iron) and installed the fence ourself

Nice. I see the iron prices are nearly identical to the aluminum on that site? I wonder why? I guess I’d prefer the wrought iron over the aluminum for aesthetics even if it comes with the hassle of painting it every few years.

Many of their aluminum fenced look like traditional iron, which is why we went with them. We love on the water and the high humidity causes everything to rust
