Site Issues With IE8

Before you make fun, our company (only) nets in the single digit billions per quarter, so they act like they are OT poor. Therefore, we are using an antique browser with no other options. The site had run OK until recently, when it either spontaneously (automatically) shuts down, or grinds to a halt while loading, then pops up script error messages. Seems to happen while the ad banner at the top is loading. Any solution (aside from hoping management realizes MS products start out buggy and get worse if not regularly updated/upgraded)?
