Sig and Avatar pic help

Yeah i'm sure its been dicussed a lot over the years, but i just wanted some immediate help while i have a break. Everytime i post the image url in the sig and avatar thing on my profile, it keeps saying that it will not work. Is there a certain website you guys go to to find your pics? any help would be great.
Also i have read the FAQ but i'm not tech savvy.

Try posting them in the stickied thread at the top of the help board. Someone will be able to resize and host them for you.
