if you experience something like a redirect, popup and audio ad, let me know the following:

1. Device type...phone, tablet or desktop/laptop
2. operating system....iOS, android, windows
3. version of the site...desktop or mobile
4. browser...safari, chrome, IE, etc...
5. what page you were on

for redirects and popups, a screen shot and/or url is helpful.

Clearing your browser's cache and cookie history sometimes helps the issue. Also, your computer may be infected by malware. We recommend a scan from a company like Malwarebytes.

thanks for you patience.

On windows 10 machines - run AdwCleaner

On widows 8 and below - run ComboFix

Is Malwarebytes still a reliable scanner?

Malwarebytes bought Adwcleaner last year so that speaks volumes to me.

Adw and Combofix hit the registry better/deeper than Malwarebytes.

As for Mal still being reliable, I think so and maybe best for the below average user.

Laptop

Windows 10

Desktop

IE

All pages

A couple of weeks ago, this site was the only one I visited that loaded very slowly and sometimes froze on me. This has improved a bit, but the speed is still down compared to other sites and occasionally, when replying to a post, I am unable to copy text from the post to which I'm replying. Hitting the back button and then clicking "reply: again fixes this, but I never had this issue before and I don't have it on other sites.

However, it could be a problem with my system. I've noticed that the spell check doesn't work when I'm replying to a post on Facebook. FB is the only site where this problem occurs.

I just bought this laptop about a month ago.

TD would be better if you couldn't post at all!

I scanned my laptop the night I had a bunch of redirects on TD and the scan didn't find anything. But that night was a one time thing. I haven't had any problems since then.

I'm getting a video ad for Kaiser University that is highjacking the ability to scroll.

Acer Chromebook

Clearing cookies seems to have killed the issue for now.

I find Avast boot scan to be the most effective of all. I would suggest ComboFix only as last resort. Avast has repeatedly found stuff AdwCleaner missed.

video ads are not necessarily bad...many times, they slow the scrolling due to memory issues of computer.

No. Not scroll slowing. Scroll denial.

Once you scrolled down to where the ad was located it wouldn't let you scroll away from it unless you hovered over it.
