Why did the thread regarding the black professor the allegedly racist cops get anchored?

In general, it's a bad policy to anchor a thread without any explanation. It doesn't remedy the possibility of future anchor worthy actions, and it creates frustration for posters who are invested in a topic.

it would be even worse policy to explain every anchor...who has time for that?

the topic is still around...you and the small number of users still participating in it can still post in it...

Not knowing the workload of a moderator, I'll have to accept what you say is true. However, it seems like a click box for a moderator that puts an entry into a thread that :

a) shows it was anchored, and

b) gives a broad catagory for why it was anchored

would be both beneficial to the board as a general deterrent and to those specific offenders.

It could simply state things like: racially sensitive; excessive personal attacks, misleading information; duplicative topic; inappropriate topic; too much personal information revealed; etc.

Mods could respond to the thread when they lock/anchor it with an explanation... happens on most other forums

But too many admins here don't want to out themselves

Some roads are best left untraveled.

The maps don't say "here be dragons..." Anymore.

Don't mean the dragons aren't there.

Are you kidding? There have only been new threads about black people almost hourly, sometimes more. ANd they quickly turn into a circus with the racist comments in them. Two or more were deleted yesterday. The only reason the third was allowed to stay is because the discussion finally became reasonable.

I was warned not to post in any. Even though i was attempting to be a reasonable voice. I suppose The line is too fine to walk.

And thanks, whatever admin spared me. I'm really trying.
