iPhone 3G (8GB) Problem

I bought my iPhone 3G in 2008. I've always kept it in an OtterBox Defender Series case. I've never dropped the phone and it's never gotten wet.
My phone started shutting itself off on Saturday (with a full battery charge). I couldn't get it turn on and a hard reset wasn't working. I took it to the Apple Store and somehow they got the hard reset to work and they said my phone was fine.
I didn't have any problems until later on Saturday night. The phone keeps shutting itself off for no reason (full battery). I'm having to do a hard reset on the phone each time to make it turn on. It's starting to happen more frequently now.
This is really irritating, and I don't know what to do. The software is up to date on the phone, and like I said, it's never been dropped or been exposed to liquids. Any help would be appreciated and TIA.

sounds like your phone power source may be going out. either that or you are having software issues. i would backup and then restore it before anything else

Yea, try a full restore. Make sure you back up cuz you are going to have to load all the apps, pics, etc back on it.

Electronic devices are not perfect, and they will break in seemingly unexplainable ways (even Apple products). Take it back to the store, and if getting it fixed will cost more than about half the price of a new one, I would just buy a new one.

I used to charge my battery at home, at work, and in the car. Probably never was below 80%. Turns out I ruined my battery doing that. It would turn itself off all the time when it was fully charged. Got a new battery for $40 and haven't had a problem since.

sounds like you have a shitty phone and need a new one.
