Sandestin Triathlon 2024

By any chance does anyone know if there will be a Sandestin triathlon this year or if they discontinued it? I’m assuming the latter seeing as it’s Mid March and I’m not seeing any media about one.
It seems as though multiple regional triathlons have shut down in recent years. Last year’s Grandman in Fairhope was the last one and I know another long time Louisiana tri shut down too.

I’ve done the San Destin Tri a few times, by far my favorite race. I’ve also done the grandman a couple times.
This all being about 10 years ago. So to answer your question I have no idea. Sorry.

Haha no worries, I’m just glad someone answered. The grandman was great, it’s a shame they ended it.

The numbers at all local Sprint and Olympic distance races have been plummeting for years. Unfortunately people now find slogging through a 12 hour Ironman is a bigger accomplishment than trying to break two hours in an Olympic. Nobody wants to go fast anymore and the fun races are paying the price.

Thanks man. I appreciate the heads up. I think I’m going to do the Cajunman in Lafayette. Obviously not nearly as sexy of a location for a tri, but it has the same 1/2 mile swim as the Sandestin would have. I’m going to work my way up the ladder since swimming is easily my weak link.
