Is it temporary? Those mats are super heavy and will probably leave indentations. If it's more permanent I would carefully pull up the carpet and store it. Then go wall to wall with mats.

Temporary as in a couple years I guess. I’d rather not remove or mess up my carpet that’s currently installed.

Covering a large area of your carpet like that might trap moisture underneath and ruin the carpet anyway.
