Glut medius strain/tear?

Anyone here ever dealt with this before? I'm a pretty avid long distance runner, 10-12 miles daily, and recently did a number on this muscle. I added some hikes in with my daily running load and I guess it was too much.
I have a tremendous pain just below my right hip. I tried cutting miles and slowing down but that's not really helping. I have an appointment for an MRI but they can't get me in for another week. Almost 90% sure it's a glut medius tear or strain based on the available pain tests and how isolated the inflammation is.
If you've suffered this before, did it heal up without surgery? What was your recovery time looking like? Not running the past few days has been brutal and just trying to get a feel for what the recovery is looking like. Thanks.

I think you need some more recovery time. Literally every day 10-12 miles?
