I put two packets of propel in a gallon of water and drink close to a gallon a day.

How bad is this for me?

Any other options so I don't have to drink plain water everyday?

ETA: if it tastes good spit it out

I'll squeeze out nectarins, plums, etc

Just wondering if there is anything new out, like stevia based.

I've been doing Mio primarily for about 3 years. I don't like drinking plain water, but I do a little bit on occasion. It's not cheap. I use 5 different flavors and mix them up. One has caffeine I drink in the mornings. Another has electrolytes if I'm out hiking or walking. I try to never drink any calories, other than milk..

Are you thirsty enough to drink that or are you forcing yourself? There is certainly no obvious benefit in drinking that much water.

Additionally, the Propel label reads like frankenfood.

Why can't you just drink regular water in reasonable quantities and eat real, whole foods?

I guess I can't really relate to people that don't absolutely love drinking ice water. I drink it 12 months out of the year, and I've always asked myself, "How does something with "allegedly" no flavor taste so awesome?"

I use those little zero calorie water flavor-ers too, sparingly. It's a nice treat every now and again.

If I don't drink black coffee or ice water I usually have a gallon pitcher of green tea that I've brewed up and it sits in the fridge to keep it cool. I brew hot green tea often as well(mostly matcha), but I mostly drink this organic loose leaf sencha green tea that I flavor with lemon and lime juice. It's a quality beverage.

That's asking too much of this bunch. Lots of folks with no discipline who are addicted to the 'taste' of fake artificial flavorings and sweeteners who have convinced themselves they are eating 'healthy' when reality is very different. It's basically confirmation bias so the can continue to suck back 'diet' or 'zero' cola's, energy drinks, or things loaded with a bunch of emulsifiers, gums, sweeteners, etc.

What is a reasonable quantity? I've always been told to drink a gallon a day minimum, more if sweating a bunch.

Unless you have some kind of systemic dis-regulation in your body pertaining to hydration, just drink when you're thirsty. Your body knows what's up.

Agreed, I always like water but sometimes it’s the best thing ever. I drink it all day and sometimes with meals.

I always thought the "gallon of water a day" rule was similar to the "10,000 steps-a-day" rule, in that those numbers, "1 Gallon" and "10,000 steps" just sound nice and round and they're easy to remember. Are they backed by science? Not so much, but 1 gallon of water a day or 10,000 steps a day are definitely "more than enough" for most people on most days so ..hell, why not..that's the rule, sounds good.

Wasn't anyone else taught to look at the color of your pee as a way to judge how well they are hydrated? That's all I do, look for pale yellow pee. If it's darker, I drink more, if it's lighter I know I'm very well hydrated and I can rest easy.

I know that in a person with healthy kidneys and a well functioning cardiovascular system, drinking a gallon a day isn't gonna hurt them, but it's not necessary either. Unless they are sweating enough to warrant that kind of intake, it's just extra work for ...what? What are you really satisfying? Your body's hydration needs....or your Type A personality?*

*(written by a person with a Type A personality and a psychotic level of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder who has "been there" with the water intake issue, and learned over the years to let it go, 0.9 gallons of water a day didn't kill me, so I just learned to relax about that)

I'm "fortunate" in that my job entails physical labor (plant baw) and it stays warm in there even in the dead of winter. I wear shorts to work even in days like today (it's 15°F here in Lexington right now.) I take an empty milk jug to work every day filled with tap water and crush it over the course of an 8 hrs shift. Have zero problems getting it in that way. Maybe try that OP. You might pee a lot at work but you get your necessary water intake in. Also just started back on creatine so getting that water in is important.
