My main issue with things like Peleton, tonal, mirror, etc.. is that I already spend much of my time in front of a screen. I like being able to just workout with my dumb metal weights and be out in the sun while running.

I also like learning about training and programming. I enjoy tinkering with my own programs as opposed to having a virtual trainer put me through a workout.

Some people may really like these products. They just don’t appeal to me.

You could build a nice arse home gym with that much money.

The benefit I see from it is how compact it is. The part of a regular gym I hate is how it is always so damn busy. I get there 5:50 most mornings and I still have to bounce around based off of what other people are doing.

Mine's never busy, I love the smell of rubber mats, and the sound of metal plates clanking together is the shiz...but I'm old so...

Did you decide to get a Tonal? I am seriously looking at one for my household. I have 3 boys that could use it along with myself and my husband. I just don't have the time to get to the gym and neither does he. I've looked at the Pelaton and I like the idea of a guided class, but I don't particularly care to spin. I've always enjoyed lifting and I think we could all use in the house. Just worried about the investment and then it just sitting like a mirror on the wall.

Have you seen Coop’s review for iton garage gym reviews.

GGR Tonal Review

He speaks very highly of it. It’s not for me, but some people may like it.

Yep, saw his video and plenty others that had great things to say. Biggest complaint was price, but many say it’s worth it. Think I’m gonna bite the bullet and do it.

I've owned a tonal since last year and have no complaints. I like the programs, especially the ones by trainer, Nicolette, as her methods are helping me build muscle. You can also do different movements on your own and the machine will count your reps for you if guided instruction isn't your thing. Many different types of classes, mobility, strength, recovery, yoga, Barre, pilates, warm ups, etc. There is a camera on each tonal and I suspect it'll be used for personal training one day. Also, digital weight is not like regular weights as they take away the momentum since use to lift weights. A relative of mine who played college football tried it out at his usual weight he lifts and found it difficult to lift. There's a lot to talk about it but I find the eccentric mode interesting as you can lift the weight and throughout different points of the lift, the weight will increase to offset gravity. Also, if you're lifting and tonal noticing you're struggling, it will decrease the weight for you the next time you attempt it also called "spotter mode".

As far as the subscription goes, it is what it is. But I'm used to paying for peloton as I've already got their bike and tread+ so it really isn't something I think about because the results of these products outweigh anything. There's nothing wrong with going to a gym or buying weights or whatever, all of these products hitting the market just provide an alternative to people who enjoy technology. That is really all they are. If you can check them out at a local Nordstrom or if you live in a large metro area like Dallas (Northpark mall), go to their store and try one.

FYI, they have a discount you can add if you're a healthcare worker, first responder, teacher age I think something wise to get 200 off. Otherwise use someone's referral code to get 100 off

Oh I don't remember what it was but I used the discount last summer when I bought mine. Just have to go to a site and put in your proof of being one of those types of workers and you get the code. I think veriID or something like that

I was able to use a referral code as I'm not a healthcare worker/teacher/etc. Thanks!
