So I came down with a very acute case of sciatica/piriformis on my right side a couple of weeks ago.

I can only sit/lay in positions where my feet are on the floor.

My right foot swole and was hot to the touch. Since then, it’s continually swollen and the skin is very tender to the touch.

Is it possibly nerve related?

Any calf pain? Calf pain when you move your foot up and down?

Could be unrelated and just a coincidence, but swollen and and tender could mean blood clot.

Also another random thought, could be CRPS. Complex regional pain syndrome. That one is a huge stretch.

None

In fact, the sciatic pain is down to a 2/10, depending on how I’m situated, but this lingering foot issue is still problematic.

No pain on the bottom of the foot. Just super tender skin on the top.

Sounds like gout. What have you been eating?

Doubtful, but nurse advise line recommended that I be seen, so hopefully I’ll find out what the issue is today.

Doc wasn’t sure what the deal was. Thinks it was just coincidental timing and I either have an RA flare or gout.

It could very well be nerve related. May be just late sequela of the sciatica. It is strange that it is still going on but seems more likely be related to that than to something coincidental.
May need to see a neurologist for further testing/clarification

It is not nerve related.

Sudden onset of redness, swelling, and warmth in a foot is..

1. Gout
2. Infection

3. A lot of other random things - pseudogout, inflammatory arthritis flare (RA, SA, lupus, etc)

DVT can lead to swelling, but it is more in the lower leg/calf

...but what do I know, I'm just a foot Dr...
