Will playing in wet conditions cause shanks?

Had a few unexplainable shanks. My initial instinct is it's not the conditions, I just made a shite swing, but is there something about sloppy conditions that increases the likelihood of a shank?

Are you changing your swing to adjust to the conditions? Probably so. And that's no always a bad thing.
When it's windy, you need to be able to knock it down. When the treeline is between you and the hole, you need to be able to hit a draw or fade. When the lie is hard or wet, depending on how much you typically dig, you may need adjust something or take extra swings to get the club to interact with the ground the way you want it to.

Listen closely, this guy knows what he is talking about.

Causes me to hit more chunky shots.

Could have been a foot slip, check your spikes. If good spikes, in wet conditions (rain or dew) try to make more compact swings to ensure a crisp/clean strike on the ball. Also soften your grip as the club will dig 10-15% more in soft conditions vs firm.

No it won't.

No, hitting it off the hozzle will, though.
probably just a posture thing, or the weather is just in your dome.

I've been fighting the shanks for 3 months
While it's rained a lot in 3 months, I'm not blaming the weather

I played sloppy Bayou Oaks Saturday and it didn't for me. It did cause more long iron approaches into greens. #noroll #holycrapimanerd

No but it can expose existing issues like hitting it fat or poor weight distribution/balance.

This. I can butcher a wet course with the best of them...

the other day i was on the range and i kept cleaning my iron in the little bucket of water with brush thing, and i kept shanking for no reason. i started drying off my iron and went back to normal. i think the wet club face was causing the problem.
