Played the US Air Force Academy Silver Course - It's hard but beautiful. (pics inside)

I thought they were crazy when they told me the ball moves away from the mountain, but they were right. Very difficult course (especially for me as a beginner), but I did chip one in from 75' out. The slope rating is 126. Enjoy the pics.

Looks amazing/ My daughter will be playing the Blue Course in a couple of weeks - she qualified for the US Girls Jr - course is playing 6800 yards - what do you think that really translates too? She carries her drives 225/230 in Virginia at sea level…

Way back in the day I went to golf camp there for a week. It was the first time I ever played on bent grass greens. I was around 15 years old and was a mid single digit player. The first day I shot 94 with something like 48 putts. It was wild.

Play the two courses (East and West) at the Broadmoor every June. Beautiful resort and excellent golf.
Took me two-three years of playing there to finally trust that every putt does break away from the mountains. Because every putt DOES break away from the mountains!
Really pretty part of the country - hope you had fun.

Add about 7-10% for each club at that altitude.

I was a member at Eisenhower from 1972 until I had to quit playing because of medical issues in 2014. The Blue course is the more difficult of the two courses. My best score on it was 75 when I was playing well and putted lights out that day. I saw Tiger play in a Junior tournament sponsored by Canon in the mid 90s. I was following him in a practice round and he was having difficulty with the greens. I told him to trust them when they said the ball broke away from the mountains. He asked if I was a member and I responded yes. He asked if I would follow him and help him read the greens. I said of course.

I hope she has the opportunity to play at least one practice round prior to the tournament. She should count on an extra 10% distance at altitude. Two pieces of advice. One, keep the ball in play sacrificing distance for accuracy if necessary. It's very difficult to make par from the rough. And yes I speak from plenty of experience. Secondly, and by all means keep the ball below the pin. Tell her I said to play well and enjoy the views.

Thanks sir - she will be playing two practice rounds and has a caddy who will be playing golf for Boise State in the fall… and has plenty of experience on the course reading greens etc…
Biggest stage she’s been on - but she’s been on a roll for a few months now :)

I see that you appear to be a member of the US Space Force. If that's correct, where are you stationed. I was on active duty and stationed in Colorado Springs and participated in the formation of Space Command. After retirement I spent 25 years working for Harris Corp. as the Senior Logistician on the contract that operated, maintained, & sustained the Air Force's Satellite Control Network (AFSCN). What a great experience that was.

Emerson had it rolling in R1 walking to the 7th green putting for birdie - then she noticed the Ohio State coach watching- and 3 putts then goes +11 the last 11 holes - hit the ball very well but lost 8.8 strokes putting as she struggled wi th the mountain greens
Started R2 on back with two bogeys but showed some real character to battle back and shot a +2 74 - actually didn’t hit the ball as well but gained +.7 strokes putting so a 9 stroke improvement on the green - she actually beat or tied many of the top juniors in the country with her R2 score - I think she knows she belongs now… she was down in the dumps after the roof slowly collapsed the last 5 holes in R1… really proud of her and we had an amazing caddy - kid just finishing high schooo committed to play at Boise State - great kid - maturity beyond his years and really was a huge asset.
Emerson moved up a whopping 32 spots - 116/165 - not typical in a USGA event from what I was told - didn’t make the round of 64 but super proud of her at 14 being so young and playing 6800 yards and turning things around - great course great event and great people at the club ! I hope this is the first of many for her and her little sister - but if not I think we lucked out with the best venue and best people possible… I’ll post photos later :)

Would it be possible to post the story in a more accessible site?
