Does anybody have any info on Oakwing in Alexandria. The course has steadily been on the decline. The greens are the latest victim to inept maintenance. Can't get any information from anyone in the pro shop.

I believe the deluge of rain we've gotten in the last few months have hampered the golf course maintenance somewhat. Played there last month and it wasn't pristine but it wasn't in terrible shape either.

Slight hijack, how is Links? We’re playing there in a couple weeks

I've seen some pics from a member at Oakwing. A couple of the greens are the worst they have ever been.
A number of long time members are dropping memberships in favor of playing Links or just wherever they can get tee times.

inept maintenance

I think there has been inept management for years... Though that is is a just a personal opinion of mine.

Word is a there will be a new management group incoming. No word who it is yet. I think direct and indirect labor is sitting around waiting to be replaced...

I haven't played there in a while, but when the LGA Junior event was held there several weeks ago, course was in good shape.

So you mean to tell me right after Robbie Gueringer starts running things in the clubhouse after failing to keep the Alexandria Country Club running things start falling apart at Oakwing too? Coincidence?

Don't let the couple of people in Alexandria that worship him fool you. He's a Grade-A a-hole and made it less enjoyable when we were members.

Links is in great shape as usual. Oakwing and The Links are right next to one another, so you can’t blame the rain and/ or the weather on Oakwings condition.

Can’t put this one on Robby G. I would say the buck ends with the new grounds superintendent and apathy from the GM

Don’t think you can pin AGCC on Robbie either. If anything he was the last thing keeping it alive. They ran him off and it quickly went from good to bad to closed.

One of my favorite courses in the area. I also enjoy links on the bayou.
I haven’t played it in years - I always thought both of them were in good shape.

Oakwing's bunkers haven't been playable in months, they always have really thin grass on the fairways and rock hard ground, and the greens are starting to deteriorate. The Oakwing guys always blame it on the weather we have had this year, while the Links is next door with always excellent fairways and decent greens.

Oakwing has the ability to be the nicer course, but the Links grounds superintendent and crew does a significantly better job than Oakwing.

Damn I miss AGCC though. I loved playing there as a kid. Indian mound hole was the GOAT.

I don't know how long the current superintendent has been there but he's fairly new. The greens definitely are the worst I have ever seen them. It's a damn shame.

As others have said, Robbie G doesn't really have a whole hell of a lot to do with the condition of the course. Campo is the GM so if it falls on anybody on the inside it would be him.

As someone else mentioned, they're about to be under a new management group but I am not sure who. Maybe the current group has just mailed it in.

Robbie had nothing to do with the country club failure. Zero.

Ah, problem members.

Links is damn near perfect. Played last week. The recent punch holes were barely visible.

Just got their $1M renovation budget approved with the bunkers being the first item on the list.

Interesting.
Eager to see what upper management does with staff moving forward.

Been a member there since it opened. You would think management would let the members in on that little secret.
