New Orleans sucks for golf

I've lived in many places, including the midwest, Atlanta, and the North east.
When it comes to golf, this town is the cheeks.
Lousy weather, not many courses (fewer in good condition), not a lot of driving ranges, and not many indoor places.
Dance with whoever you came with I suppose.

We make up for it with great schools, beautiful streets, and little crime! Grip it and Rip it Daddy!

I recently played city park south - I was impressed

You could be at La Tour in 30 minutes.
Can’t help you on the weather tho.

Lousy weather,
I assume you mean heat. I'd much rather live in a place that gets hot in the summer where I have a very good shot at playing any day of the year than live in a place that you can't golf in for 3-4 months because of the cold temperatures.
Everything else is pretty spot on.

Probably talking about rain

Played there a few weeks ago and it was in great shape. Fun course.

Louisiana is probably the worst golf state in the union.
Its pitiful, especially if you have played golf in lots of other places and have seen other options.
It'll never change either. The weather is also shitty, hot as frick or its raining.

It just doesn't make sense for it to change which sucks. A championship golf course wouldn't survive because even though golf sucks in New Orleans, there are 20 courses within 20 miles catering to the average sad golfer. A championship course would struggle to get the 30k rounds it would need to break even.

I like it but as the only good course outside of TPC it stays incredibly packed.

Yep, rain.
It's hard to reserve a tee time when you don't know what the weather is gonna do the next day
Regarding cold weather places, I started playing about 5 years ago when I lived in Michigan. It absolutely spoiled me. Tons of good courses in Grand Rapids.
And even the small lousy town 2 hrs away that I lived in had heated bays at the driving range. They were open year-round.
A neighboring small town had a dedicated indoor golf facility, huge bays. They even did torunaments there and lessons.
("Dedicated," as in, nothing but golf, it wasn't a restaurant).
The north shore and the west bank seem to have the best offerings in NOLA.

How is Audubon doing? Played last Oct and it was a little out of shape due to covid staffing. I really like the course.

You forgot the greatest tax compliant Mayor in the WORLD who kept her promise of getting rid of speed (trap) cameras all over the city.
Just ask her!

You must be easily impressed. There isn’t one noteworthy hole on that entire course.

Rains a lot in South LA.

A championship golf course doesn't work in Louisiana because we do not have championship economy and jobs. The kinds of employees that support golf courses historically have left the State.
The kinds of employees that are left, desire championship courses but want to pay goat ranch prices and only play on Saturday morning.
