More impressive: Tiger’s most PGA victories or Jack’s most majors?

Theyre both incredible records in their own sphere, Tiger's win % is more impressive IMO

He basically won 1/4 of every event he ever entered.

Both great, but Jack is the GOAT. His overall record in majors is the thing that sets it apart for me. Wins, second place finishes, top tens, etc. That is what stands out.

Tiger legitimately would have won 30+ majors if he was playing against car salesman like Jack

Tiger had such a deeper field. Part of the reason we have the legends we do is the lack of competition.

Tiger's win %

This is the most telling stat. Before the injuries derailed him, he was winning something like 30% of his starts. From 1997-2008, he won over 30%of the majors he played in.

Not so fast.

The scoring average from Jack's time to Tigers hasn't changed much at all.

Jack played shorter courses with inferior equipment. He was hitting 300 yd drives with persimmon heads and balata balls.

Tiger played longer courses with the best equipment. He invented the stinger shot.

Push

Jack raised a big family without the huge sponsorships and freebies.

Tiger played under the huge media pressures.

Push

Jack's record of 2nd place finishes will never be broken.

Tiger's US Open at Pebble Beach was a work of art.

Push

I would never say Tiger played against better competitors. He mostly just had Phil to worry about.

Jack played with some of the games greats. Guys that had to grind every shot to feed their family.

Jack and Tiger are the two best that ever played.

Both in their prime ?

Push.

Tiger did beat some greats down the stretch of majors. The likes of Rocco Mediate, Woody Austin, Chris Dimarco and Bob May.
Let’s not forgot that He also couldn’t close the deal against Ed the Grip Fiori.

Name the greats that Tiger beat….. I’ll listen, Tiger is done, he can’t win the Louisiana Mid Am

Young people don't know how physically strong Jack was.

He was Tiger, Jack could overpower a course too.

Jack.

Jack couldn’t afford to cherry pick tournaments and play when he was fully healthy. They had to grind it out every week. And the difference in traveling is night and day compared to the 60s/70s than 90s+. Hell, Tiger probably flew private his whole career.

Tiger’s massive endorsements allowed him the luxury to basically do what the LIV players are doing: Play less golf, make more money.

..and it’s bullshite that he said anything about the LIV players cashing in.

You could argue that tiger dominated so much that no one else stood out. When you win 30% of the tournaments it’s hard for anyone else to really make a name

Jack played with a balata ball, persimmon woods, and Mini Miura blades. Enough said.

If Tiger’s generation played with the same equipment, Tiger would have been even more dominant. Titanium, graphite, and the new ball helped the field more than it helped Tiger.

What did his opponents play with?

Inferior equipment helps the good players, as better equipment just helps blur weaknesses. It would have been an advantage for tiger to have inferior equipment during his time

Tiger’s cuts made streak honestly might be better than any record in golf. His win % in the modern game is probably the second most impressive record.
