If pro golfers were not paid to put a brand of clubs in their bag, what do you think they

game?

I imagine majority of them would have the Taylor Made M Drivers and fairway. Adams or Titleist Hybrid. Mizuno 900 Tour irons (see all the former Nike players gaming them.). Vokey wedges and Odessy or Scotty putters.

The top golfers game what they want. They can pick brands with whom to sign deals. They can also modify clubs at their discretion. The top clubs don't have much of a difference in terms of performance, so really it's all what fits their eye.

Like what was posted. Heads can be modified and built to spec. But also, the shaft choice is really where the player gets the desired results from the irons and woods.

They sign deals whoever OEM is coughing enough of the cash it seems.

I believe Mizuno irons were in majority of the players bags before the deals were made of the likes of Taylor Made or Callaway.

It's 2 sided. Yes they get money to play a set of clubs, but get more when they win. Players pick a brand with which they think they can win which makes them more money which makes club makers give and want to give hem more etc.

They are not going to sign with Taylormade if they think they can win with Mizuno (see Koepka which to my knowledge still hasn't signed with a brand)

Koepka is getting paid to hit TM woods for sure, they pay woods only deals weekly, not that he needs the $ but he's getting paid to hit them.

Rory was an interesting case considering he chose TM while he was still getting paid by Nike. TM had to have covered what he lost by signing a new contract and then some. Which is odd because TM was up for sale at the time.

Nike is still paying Rory for apparel, TM is just the club deal and he must bag atleast 13, possibly 14 TM clubs in his deal.

Paul Casey, Chappel, Vegas also playing Mizuno on their own. Seems like all Nike guys flocking to the Mizuno irons and TM M drivers.

Mizuno if the PGA and Web.com guys did not get paid....Mizuno irons would fill the bags.

Probably:

Driver - Taylor Made / Titleist

3 wood - all over the board - some pros still use the old TM tour eagle 3 wood

irons - Mizuno

wedges - anything forged that meets the eye test

putter - spider, cameron

Are you a Mizuno rep or something? Seems like you are really pushing hard to convince everyone that all pros would play Mizunos.

Mizuno was the most popular Iron on tour in the 1990s and they paid a nice stipend back then, but they no longer compete with Titleist, Callaway, Ping, TM. But even if they did pay the same I still think you'd have several players playing with what they have in the bag now, lots of good choices out there these days.

Mizuno doesn't have the bank roll to fund multiple touring pros, hence why they don't have a "huge" name. Clearly they make superior irons to other brands if 5/6/7 players are gaming the irons and not being paid to do so... ie Brooks

For them, but probably not for me and lots of others.

Not true. They make a wide variety of irons all of which are highly recommended.

Yet there are still people (like me) who test them out yet pick other OEMs. And I REALLY wanted to play the MP-18s. They're beautiful. The JPX line fits me better, but not as well as Srixon and I like the classic look of the Z765 over the JPX stuff anyway.

. Not at all. Read a Golfwrx were Mizuno is a winner of being played by PGA pros without club contracts. I would had thought it would have been Titleist...Also, I was unaware Mizuno was the number one iron in bags in the 90s. I did not know they gave a stipend.

I really wanted to have the Srixon in my bag, but the JPX were a better fit for me.

I've tried a few. Never liked any of them.
