Currently ranked #3 & the reigning Masters champ.

When LIV began in 2022, the top ranked players were Dustin Johnson (15), Joaquin Niemann (16), Abraham Ancer (19), Brooks Koepka (20), Louis Oosthuizen (21), Paul Casey (27), & Bryson Dechambeau (28).

Cam Smith won The Open & then joined a few weeks later ranked #2. A year and a half later, he’s down to #32.

Koepka dropped as low as 118 before a T2 at The Masters & then winning the PGA Championship. He’s now sitting at #22

To be fair, a lot of those guys also started playing like crap in the biggest events. I don’t really see that happening to Rahm.

You would hope so, but even he didn’t have a Top 10 in ‘22 majors. It’s a shame the OWGR system is so broken that Jon Rahm could be out of the top 20 next year

Jon Rahm had 100% control over that, that’s what the 100s of millions was for. . Tennis players also don’t get ranked by playing non designated tours.

I get what you’re saying, but also, the guidelines were pretty clear for what is needed to qualify as a Tour for OWGR.

LIV didn’t meet that, told the players eventually it would work out, and it hasn’t yet.

Kind of feels like the “what are you gonna do, stab me?” meme. They knew they didn’t meet the standards and are now mad that someone isn’t rewarding them for not meeting those standards. Also, that is why LIV had to give these guys more money than they normally would have.

Everyone complains how people these days expect to be coddled or special exemptions made for them. That’s LIV to a T at this point. They have had every opportunity to conform and choose not to do so

I would imagine as soon as a PIF/PGA merger gets done, they’ll try to work with LIV in order to start getting points.

I believe they increased the number of “relegation spots” for this season to help with the promotion/qualification aspect of their closed field events.

I think the PGA Tour has some dumb exemptions like “Career Money List” and “300 cuts made” but there’s at least a way to qualify it, vs. Martin Kaymer and Lee Westwood not being in danger of relegation solely because of their title as Captain.
