Has not been very competitive in majors since his "trip down the stairs". Spieth with another major and several years younger

He's only played in 2 of them. Let's give him just a little bit more time before deciding he sucks now.

He's had 3 previously failed drug tests, resulting in a 6-months suspension. Some speculate he failed a test and was suspended from playing the Masters. The Tour is not required to publically disclose disciplinary action for drug use.

Another rumor I heard around Augusta is that the golfer whose wife Dustin slept with threatened to kick his arse and/or go public with it if Dustin didn't withdraw. Seems unlikely but people were talking about it a lot.

If those were actually the case why did he make it out to the first tee before officially withdrawing. if his plan was to use an injury as an excuse why not just say its too bad to get out of bed instead of putting on a show

It's still fishy to me. He's playing the best golf of his life and doesn't even make a try at it. I've never seen photos of bruises or bumps. DJ has always had a shady side to him, but fun to watch.

Sort of what I was thinking as well. Why even go warm up and test things out on the range?

Granted the injury or 'fall' could've been from an all night bender and he was just too damn hungover to play.

Whatever happened at the rental house, it was bad enough that Doc Suppiah was summoned to the house.

Doctor Suppiah is the best - he ain't going to be called unless there is a real issue.

I know this to be a fact and have witnessed it first hand. This was before anyone knew who he was.

Nobody will know but the "fall" story doesn't pass the sniff test.

This makes no sense at all. The PGA Tour has absolutely nothing to do with the administration of The Masters. The Masters is a private invitational that doesn't administer drug tests to my knowledge.

If the tour was suspending DJ for a third or fourth time for a failed drug test, it wouldn't have been for 2 weeks. The last one was months.

I don't necessarily believe it, that's why I said some speculate, but other forums/articles out there on it. I have no idea other than it was weird seeing him dressed and on the range, then he walks to the tee box and abruptly leaves. Even if he banna slices it into the woods, who cares, give it a go and see if it loosens up. If he can't play then withdraw.

Yeah you could tell by how busted up his face was.

As for a bender it hit the news on Wednesday afternoon.

Would've been longer than two weeks.

With Paulina in Augusta, I doubt he was sleeping around. I know some of these guys are addicts like Tiger, but I couldn't imagine sleeping around on Paulina...

Can you link me to an article from an actual journalist stating there is suspisicon that the "slip and fall" story was a cover up? I read a lot of golf articles and this thread is the only mention I've seen of it.

I watched the range session on Thursday morning. He never went at a shot, and he was either in a lot of pain or he deserves an Oscar for his performance.

I think he's a competitor and wanted to try.

Maybe something else happened, but the guy was unbeatable in the weeks before the Masters. Can't believe he would decide to sabatoge himself 2 days before the biggest golf tournament of the year.
