Im looking for someone that has played graphite shafts in irons for at least 1 year or is a fitter with knowledge on which graphite shaft is best.

Former 2 handicap - current 7 after having elbow surgery in March 21', 53 years old and trending back to a lower index. I want to make the transition into graphite for their supposed ease on the joints.

Mizuno Pro 223 is my current game club but I have a set of Pro 225's as well. I hit a 7 iron 162 carry with a bit of roll out to about 170+. My descent angle is only about 42-43 so wanting a club with good torque but high launch.

Any help appreciated.

MMT Shafts fit the bill.

They go from 70 gram to 120 and all flexs. Excellent shaft in every aspect. Smooth feel and accurate.

Steelfiber are just a tad harsher but very tight in dispersion. They are pinseekers.

Fuji has a new shaft Axiom, don't really know much about it, but I sure it is high quality.

I don't care for the Tensi iron shafts.

If you plan to reshaft, I would consult Golfworks, Dallas Golf, Fairway Jockey, local clubbuilder, etc to figure out the best weight to try to keep your swing weight where you want it.

You need to try more than one. Do not simply settle on a recommendation. They all have subtle differences in feel.

I've found Aerotech Steelfibers to play as close to steel in terms of feel but has the benefits of graphite in terms of wear and tear on joints.

I play UST recoils and like the added help of a little be more of a graphite feeling shaft than the SF.

I agree with that statement too.

Obviously if you are a 2-7 hcp, the quality of materials should matter.

Oban and KBS TGI are other options as well.

I ordered 80 gram SteelFiber shafts in my new Srixon X5' because they didn't offer the MMT shaft.

OP, some OEM’s make whippier feeling graphite while others make more stable. I’ve played some that I could not load to save my life (Paderson Kinetix) and others that felt like a noodle despite being in proper flex.

I’ve gamed most options with exception of MMT and they’ve all offered varying feedback and subtle differences.

If you’re simply looking for a graphite replacement to what you have now, I believe Wishon also has a shaft comparison tool that you could use to compare CPMs, torque etc

Go hit them all, the Axioms are awesome and I’ve been playing recoil prototype 110’s for a few years and love them, some are whippy some are rebar, find what fits you best

5 Handicap here. 57 yo. Switched last year to Recoil 65 F4 (lighter weight, but still in the reg flex range of stiffness).

One of the best equipment changes Ive done in recent years. I was losing a little distance over the past years and was considering a lighter shaft but I was still too fast for S-flex as it was too flippy. The F4 65 shafts are perfect for me.
