I picked up the Kirkland brand golf balls today at Costco. I’ve heard that in the past these were essentially ProV1 knockoffs and eventually got pulled from Costco shelves. Is that accurate and does anyone know if the current Kirkland balls are similar to ProV1’s?

No, Acuchnet sued the shite out of Costco. That is not the same ball as before.

Goddamn I miss the original ball, thing was sick.

Well that sucks. I’ve putted with them today on my practice mat and they have a good feel so I was hoping they were close to the V1’s.

You want the original 4 piece and they kicked the ProV-1’s arse. I still have about 6 dozen.

Yea the 4 piece ball was the good one. They went on a revamped blowout sale and I bought 4 dozen.

But yea good to see the Zstar up there as excellent. It’s a hell of a ball and I’ve always been able to buy a dozEn for between $25-30. Love that ball especially because you can buy yellow.

If you’re looking for a cheap ball that’s comparable to the ProV1, I’d check out MG Golf. Great ball and super cheap

Switched to Snell.

IMO, cant be beat. Are there better balls? Maybe. But these are the best that I've played for the value. They do everything I want a ball to do.

Smell for me too. I like the blue box version.

Don't sleep on the Maxfli Tour balls from Dick's. Great ball and at a great price.
TXG did a compare with the ProV. Interesting results.

I've played them and I prefer the Maxfli Tour over the TourX. Tour is a little softer.

Snell MTB-X is now my ball.

Srixon ZStar will be my backup ball for now.

I like playing the yellow ball and both offer that option.

50 dollars a dozen for Titleist just rubs me the wrong way.

Kirkland is the best ball for the price, bar none. Do not plan to use any other ball. Whether it’s the 3 piece or 4 piece

Titleist TrueFeel has some similar characteristics to ProV1 at about a 55% reduction in price. All the reviews have it far superior to some other Titleist previous "soft" offerings.

Obviously it won't spin as much around the greens and it does balloon some, but that's always going to happen with softer balls that don't have a premium price tag.

How much y’all paying for Z Stars? $24/Dozen at my local Walmart. Cheapest I’ve seen Snells is like 32/ dozen unless bought in bulk.

I usually split a full order with someone. $27 a dz. Never seen the Z star that cheap. Ever. I'll have to keep an eye out for. I've bought a dz pro v's from walmart that were in teh wrong bay for $34 before.

ETA: Walmart has reloads of Z Stars for about $24. You talking reloads?

Yea I was curious because I’ve seen videos on YouTube talking about how they’re priced similar to PV1 and TP5 balls. I’ve bought on two separate occasions though for $24 at Walmart

I've played reloads before and found them to be inconsistent, just an FYI.

I was drawn to Snell based on how high of ratings they get on QC. Not sure if youve seen the pictures of other OEM balls being all lop sided on the inside.

Kirkland is the best ball for the price

The NEW Kirkland's are not the same as the original (in the MGS test). Maxfli Tour - 2 dozen for $50. Try'em.

Looks like I'll have to add Walmart back into the rotation. That's a helluva deal
