My regular Foursome is looking for a good spot to make a golf trip. Looking to spend around a $100 a round for the golf, don't mind paying more for a course with some prestige to it's name.

Anyone have some good locations that we might not be considering? Right now we are leaning towards Scottsdale.

They have some nice RTJ courses in Alabama. Grand National with two 18-hole courses and a badass par-3 course was awesome for our group last year.

RTJ trail is great for the cheaper end of things while still having great golf, they'll be much more to do in scottsdale after golf though. Obviously Bandon is awesome, Streamsong in FL is a new resort destination thats been getting a lot of really good reviews.

Gulf Shores is good. Peninsula and Kiva Dunes are great.

Birmingham - the Renaissance at Ross Bridge is a good weekend trip. I enjoy Ross Bridge and RTJ, Oxmoor Valley is right across the street with two additional 18 hole courses and a full 18 hole Par 3.

Actually if you can tolerate the heat, Scottsdale probably has some cheap rates. RTJ Trail is great for the price within driving distance from Louisiana (if that's where you live).

Bham has been discussed as well, major benefits are it's within driving distance and the golf is relatively cheap.

Im going to research calloway gardens and streamsong FL. Thanks for the suggestion so far! Glad there is a golf board I might actually post more then once a month

Edit: yeah we live in BR

I know the two streamsong courses that have been open were #10 and #14 on golf digest top 100 courses you can play in the U.S.

They either just opened or are about to open another course that is supposed to be just as nice.

Start your drive and play here on Friday morning for ~70 bucks ... www.pinedunes.com in Frankston, TX.

Then drive 90 mins into Dallas and go play Old American on Saturday mornign (LINK /) followed by Texas Star on Sunday morning then drive back to LA.

Horseshoe Bay would only be a drive and has some decent courses, especially if you can get on Escondido.

Streamsong is great. There is nothing out there, but fantastic golf. Tampa is only an hour away.

Going to Bandon soon. Looking forward to it.

Are you looking for golf only? Or do you require a location that also has a nightlife?

If you are looking for golf only, consider a trip to Mystic Creek in El Dorado, Ark. and then call and see if you can also get on at Squire Creek while you are in this neck of the woods. If you can't get on at Squire you should be able to get on at Calvert. Mystic Creek is an excellent course and very challenging for $78 on weekends. They are still operating out of a temporary clubhouse, so you can bring your own food and beverages the last I heard.

Nightlife would just be considered a plus, the golf is the main reason for the trip. We did a North LA/MS last year played squires Creek and dancing rabbit then hit golden bear in Biloxi on the way back Sunday.

I will amend my previous statement. Dallas is amazing if you're trying to go out.

Instead of Old American on Sat., move it to Sunday.

Play Coyote Ridge on Saturday then go out afterwards. The course is a huge party, its in great shape, at the cart girls are some of the hottest in America. Sam Moon (the owner) is a dirty, dirty man.

Lots of factors come in to play, driving or willing to fly? What time of the year? A long weekend or a week long deal? Scottsdale is baking hot in the summer, head north with hardly any humidity, Michigan and Colorado has a lot of great golf that's inexpensive and you can fly into Chicago and Denver pretty cheap these days out of MSY Nonstop. If you wanna stay local go stay at the Beau and play Fallen Oak, The Preserve, and either Windance/Grand Bear/ Shell or play Diamondhead/Bridges or Money Hill on your way back.

I'm headed to Michigan for a long weekend at the end of July. I was disappointed that Arcadia Bluffs was booked 1.5 months in advance, but we are going to stay in the middle of the state and play St. Ives, Tullymore, Forest Dunes, Buck's Run and Pilgrim's Run. Five rounds in three days . . . I'm going to be beat on the flight home!

We just played 72 in 3 days for Memorial Day in Michigan, we played 54 at Harbor Shores in Benton Harbor and 18 at the Warren Course at Notre Dame. I have done the Arcadia trip last year, we drove from there and went to the Boyne resort and played Arthur Hills, Bay Harbor and Boyne Heather which are all top tracks in Michigan, was an awesome trip. The courses you have on your list will not disappoint, I hear FD is amazing have a great trip, it's hard to find a bad golf course up there.
