My fat ps3 stopped reading disc, but that has nothing to do with overheating.

I did hear that some of the older models have to replace the BD drives, so I don't think you're alone there.

Yeah, but it has to be connected to the machine to get power and IR can't transmit that much data.
ETA: This is what he posted on Reddit: The Kinect sensor is also an IR blaster - probably the most powerful you've ever used on an A/V kit. You probably won't need to use a mirror.

It's used for secured the machine to where it is. Usually for security. You'll see them on monitors and laptops in most retail stores.

So the IR blaster might be able to turn the TV on if your TV HDMI ports are not v1.4 maybe?

It looks very sleek. Gotta say I always thought that white "Xbox" logo was always the power button since they debuted it in may, so I wasn't surprised by that. Looking forward to the free sticker.
