I just tried to check my nintendo ID and My gamepad won't turn on, even when plugged in. Now I'm pissed.

unscrew the back, take the cover off and take the battery out for a few seconds, then put it back in

Same here. I bought a wii off of craigslist and enjoyed it but I don't think I would pay full price. It was fun and all but there are only a handful of games I like and most of those don't have much staying power.

They made MK8 work with all of their peripherals:
Tablet (and you don't "Steer" it anyways, it's a controller and it's comfortable)
Remote and Nunchuck
Remote alone
Remote in Wheel
Pro Controller
Anyone coming from PS/XBOX should be using pro controller, you will feel at home. It's just an extra buy on top of the console.
