Why aren't Oculus and Morpheus pushing for VR with controllers?

TL;DR warning
All of the demos I've seen for Oculus and Morpheus are attempts at true VR where the player is up and actively interacting with their environment, but this obviously presents a lot of limitations with the kind of games you could make (you can't really walk or touch the things in the virtual world) and core gamers clearly are seeing this as another short lived gimmick like motion controls. Why not have players wear the VR headset and still use their controller? This would give you the feeling of being completely immersed in the game, especially if you consider the 360° audio, and you could still easily control your character to do whatever you want. And for first person games you could control where your character is looking with your own head movements. This could also bring back local multiplayer. You and your buddy would each have a headset so it would solve the age old screen watching problem. I know this isn't an original idea, but it just seems like something those companies would have thought about mentioning to their fanbases more, at least to make a possible transition to VR more smooth

I am all for innovation, but how has anyone not learned any lessons from Kinect/Move? When your system is relying on multiplats and a few exclusives, you are not going to be able to support the peripheral with the games necessary for it to take off. Not only that, but the cost and what seems like a huge lack of "convenience" and mass appeal, how do they ever expect this to be a success...

Get back to me when you have
Put on oculus and played Eve Valkyrie...the worst thing about VR tech is you can't show how awesome it is in a commercial to the masses

No doubt it is probably amazing, and that is where it has Kinect/Move beat, but I just think are so many other obstacles; one being the one you mentioned, not be able to show how great it is to everyone.
