I am sold on it for the very reason that it will allow me to play my PS4 (which is located in my living room) in a separate room via remote play, using the Dualshock 4.

That sounds pretty cool actually. How much does it cost?

$99 for just the device and then they offer a bundle for $139.

Also why I'm getting one. And to play all these free vita games I've been downloading with my PS+ subscription.

I don't see the point if you already own a Vita. If you don't then I can see it but I don't think it will do well.

I agree here. I've been contemplating the vita purchase for a while with the main use being remote play. This makes my decision easier because it's cheaper and I really wanted it for being able to play in another room while the wife is watching some bullshite E! show.

Does the remote play really work that well with pa4/ps3? I heard mixed reviews at first but haven't really checked lately.

If I wanted to, say, play assassins creed remotely while laying in my bed and my ps4 is in the living room, would it work well?

I can't speak from experience, I don't own a PS4. Word on the internet is it works fine for non twitch based games. The PS TV is just streaming too right?

I have the Vita, and it works great with remote play. My preference, however, it a DS4 over the Vita's much smaller controls. The L2/L3 & R2/R3 buttons are activated using the rear touch pad of the Vita, which can get annoying at times if the wrong area of the touch pad is touched.

It works the same as if you were playing it directly on the PS4 system. Only difference is smaller screen size and lack of physical L2/L3 & R2/R3 buttons. I play UFC on my Vita via remote play all the time when someone else is using the living room tv.

So without an L2/L3 or R2/R3, how well do most games play as far as a layout standpoint goes? I mean if a game's shooting mechanism is L2/R2, how will that work? Sorry for the questions, but the idea sounds really cool, but at the same time it sounds like it's almost impossible to play most games.

i use an hdmi splitter and an hdmi run through the attic to access my playstation and HTPC in my bedroom

works like a charm, and probably cheaper than another device

luckily the rooms are adjacent so the controller's range works fine

You would need to make shoot R1

If I'm not mistaken, I believe that you'd hit R1 for shooting, and R2 (top-right of the rear touch pad) for throwing a grenade in games such as COD.

Developers remap the controls for remote play on a Vita. You still use the shoulder buttons for shooting.
