I really don't understand a lot of the hate Twilight Princess gets. It is just such a massive game and I feel like the darker storyline really draws you in. I'm enjoying Skyward Sword, but I really haven't been as excited about it as I was with Twilight Princess. Probably just nostalgia. I miss riding around Hyrule on Epona. Twilight Princess did a fantastic job of expanding what OoT and playing off of nostalgia.
And thats kinda why I'm disappointed by it. I love the game, don't get me wrong, but it played of nostalgia too much and only tried to be a larger version of OoT, not its own game that can be held on its own merits like pretty much every other Zelda game has done. I really like Majora's Mask because it took what worked in Ocarina of Time and turned it completely on its head.
I think Ganondorf being in the game pissed me off the most about it really. He just had no business being there and added nothing to the plot like he did with Wind Waker. Zant should have been the main antagonist the entire time instead of a mere pawn. I'd be surprised if Ganondorf wasn't added mid-way through development. Plus the battle was easy as hell. One heart per strike? Should be way more than that. Ganondorf should really only be used once a decade and when he really adds to the plot. I'd like to see a Zelda game that goes on the Hylian Civil War that has been mentioned in a few games and happened one generation before OoT. You could get more of Ganondorf's backstory there and how he became the man he was in OoT.

They had the chance for something new, like with MM, but instead they rehashed the old.

How can I forget about this one:
That game consumed a lot of my life
That game consumed a lot of my life
