What is the best value laptop for gaming?

Under $1,000? Under $500? Looking for some ideas. Obviously it depends on what I am playing, but my HP is nearly 6 years old and running rather slow. Obviously these price points won't get me too far in the gaming laptop department, but I really just need something that runs smoothly and won't make my video look choppy af.

Look into the Dell's with 1060s. Believe they have some offerings under $1K.
Remember save money by purchasing extra RAM and SSD yourself.

I got a laptop for $1500 a month or so back that has:
Intel i7 7700 quad core
Nvidia 1060 w/ G-SYNC
120Hz display
1TB HDD
256GB SSD
16GB Ram
I can reference you, and the company has cheaper options with a downgrade in a specific manner here or there.
