I believe it's midnight on the Pacific coast, so 3AM for you and 2AM for the central time zone.
It's gonna be a long night. At least I have a ten page paper to keep me busy for some of that time.

Why? That was a really positive review.

The review was positive but I was a little discouraged by the controls. Pressing a button to throw a predetermined type of punch or kick based on your distance from your opponent. Jiggling the right stick back and forth to avoid a submission. If they could incorporate the Fight Night Round 4 controls system into the stand up, I think it would be amazing.

Like I said though, will probably still be a very entertaining game especially to play against friends.

They have to include a lot more than Fight Night in the game though. Even it there was only boxing and BJJ it'd still have 10x the possibilities of Fight Night.

And only a certain type of fighting for each fighter is the best way to do it. It'd be ridiculously unrealistic to have someone like Rampage Jackson making someone tap.

I think this will be one of the best parts. It will be perfect for playing before UFC PPVs when there's abunch of people over.

Trust me, I understand MMA. I think this is a good starting point for a possible franchise game and a VAST improvement over the previous installments. I just think that we will see a lot of improvement (and I think there is a lot of room for it) in the controls as it relates to including more control as far as ground positioning and striking.

One thing that I think Fight Night has over UFC right now is the "not every punch will look or affect the same" physics engine. If you throw punches off balance, if they are glancing blows, and where they land on the opponent will all have an impact on the effect of the punch.

I am looking forward to both of these games.

Yeah, I hate that too, but how else could you incorporate breaking a submission into the controls?

Yeah, I normally wouldn't do this, but with no class and no work for me tomorrow, I might as well stay up. I've been itching to play this game for months.

Hope you didn't wait up, cause it's not on XBL yet. BTW what's your gamertag? I think I deleted you from my friends list.

The demo is up now.

I've only played through the tutorial and there's a lot of controls to learn.

I didn't stay up. And I haven't played my 360 in almost a year. I bought a PS3 and have almost exclusively been playing that due to my 360's lack of HDMI.

Of course, the demo still isn't up on PSN.

Well, this is officially fricking ridiculous. 3:35PM here in the east, and still no demo for PS3.

In completely related news, my 3000 word paper is coming along nicely.

Finally the PS3 demo is available. Download is going very slow though due to demand.

My download is flying, man. My controller needed a recharge, so I set it to download while my control recharged not 5 minutes ago, and it's already up to 30%.

The game is fun to play. My main complaint is that whenever you knockout your opponent their mouthpiece goes flying out. I think I've only seen that happen once or twice before. Usually the mouthpieces are so tight the fighters have a hard time removing them.

True. They just put it in to please the casual fan. The same ones who complain when there's no blood (plenty of it in the game) or boo when the actions not fast enough (both Liddell and Rua pretty much come at you the whole time).

I'll be interested to see if guys like Silva, Rampage, and Rashad who are all great counter punch guys will wait for you to throw some punches or go right at you like Liddell and Rua do in the game.

I am disappointed in the lack of takedowns attempts by Rua when you play as Liddell. Considering his ground game would be a huge advantage, he should be trying a lot more.

Overall though, this game is a blast and no fight goes the same way. Submissions are difficult to lock, but the controls of transitions and the timing of going for a submission are impressively fluid.

This will be a release day buy for me and if a store near me has a midnight opening, I'll be there.

Dumb question but I've never downloaded a demo before. How do you do that? I have a PS3. I'll probably download while I sleep.

You have to sign in to the PSN then go to the Playstation Store. You get there from the screen that comes up if you're not playing a game or movie.

In the Playstation store just go to demos and find it. It only takes probably 30 minutes to download. Mine took 40-45 as soon as it came out and everyone was downloading it.

I changed the difficulty to Experienced and Rua took me down quite a bit. He Even made me tap with an armbar. Maybe I'm striking too wildly, but I haven't had a match go to decision.
