Not sure how this will work.

I'm sure for the big channels there will be plenty of the $25 subs, but I can easily see it alienating lesser subs. Also, I sub to two channels on Twitch, but I would never even consider upping those for more freaking emotes and that essentially alone.

What benefits are there to subbing to twitch channels?

Unique Emotes
Sub only prize drawings
Sub only chat

What else is there?

Well one of the guys I sub to just got to be able to quit his job and become a full time streamer so now I get to watch more content. I work a lot of weird hours in the evening especially, so it's beneficial to me to have something to watch.

I also get priority to get into baseball card breaks for him, which I take part in frequently.

Love watching young girls on Twitch.

It's legal, so no worry the FBI will break down my door.

If you pay even 9$ to sub, you have to be a really, really, lonely person, or just stupid.

Twitch is getting greedy, this can go really bad.

No.

I do believe I read that you can't stack a Twitch Prime sub into a more expensive subscription though.

IE - You can't use Twitch Prime for a $10 sub, and pay the extra $5.

Yeah, what do you get really? Will they have special perks for subs per channel?

I do $10bucks to one podcast and $5 to several others with Patreon. Now I don't care about the percs and just support because I love their content. But do not see myself going higher than $10 bucks.

Saying that, some ppl just want to support creators and entertainment they enjoy. So maybe it's not so crazy. They should do it in other ways and not let Amazon get greedy with subs.

I enjoy Twitch and don't sub to anyone, I haven't even used my free prime sub, I don't get the people that donate hundreds if not thousands to people playing on the internet, I can get giving 5 bucks to someone that you watch all the time but paying more for emotes.

I think even then they could find something better to do with the money than donate more money to guys that drives a $100K +car or live in a $500K house.

At least one of the guys I'm subbed to has said he won't hide emotes behind the higher subscription rates, so that's good. But some people will literally feel left out if streamers hide them behind a paywall. Sounds gay, and I agree, but it will happen.

And the guy who announced that said the higher sub options will be there for people who just want to support the stream at a higher rate, but nothing extra will come with it.

And regarding not understanding the donations and what not, I've been in streams and seen people donate 250K bits. I believe that's close to like $4K in real money.

I agree. It's going to really piss people off who currently subscribe to channels and now aren't going to have access to the maximum benefits.

People are already donating to support streamers at the level they want, so I'm not sure why twitch feels the need to interject themselves other than greed. Segmenting subscribers isnt good in this case.

IMO they should set a minimum subscription fee at 5 dollars and allow people to pay however much they want per month, at no added benefit. That way twitch is essentially building patreon into their platform.
