I love the tense moments at an extraction zone. A minute and a half of everyone asking "we cool?" I learned quickly not to approach an extraction zone if there's guys there with no packs.

Had a badass run in with some level 8 thugs in the DZ. on the map, it's at the top right corner of the DZ. it's a sporting goods store, there's two guys outside and about 9 or 10 more inside. The leader is some chick named Clutch. Hard as hell. Good loot

Top left of the DZ map there's a gate, walk through and slowly make your way down to the end. There a big giant fat guy with a flame thrower. Once you get him down, he's got some backup and some stationary machine guns. Again- good loot

They said due to demand, not everyone will receive a beta key even if pre-ordered.

Edt:

Due to the unprecedented demand for access to The Division Closed Beta, we can no longer guarantee access. If you have already pre-ordered The Division and have yet to receive your key, we’re working closely with our partners to ensure that you receive it tomorrow when we send out the next batch of keys.

If you go rogue in the DZ and need a good spot to lay low until it drops off you can run to the library landmark in the lower right hand of the map. There are three ropes that lead up to a little part of the roof that you can camp out on, the only access is the ropes so if you have 3 people you can watch all three ropes. Only real threat up there is grenades.

I had to change up my gear going solo in the DZ though. An all tech build is great and all but if you get into any kind of prolonged fire fight your screwed .

Across the street from the Rooftop EZ there's a roof with only one rope access.

ETA: there's actually two ropes but the rope on the backside is out of bounds.

We had a three man group today and laid a rape down in a 3v4 in the subway tunnels. Most fun I've had gaming in a while.

If you want to level pretty quickly, do the hospital mission over and over. It's almost a 1/2 level every time you complete it. Our 4 man team all made level 8 this afternoon. This will put you in the lvl 8 DZ when you go instead of the lvl 1-7 DZ. haven't been back since I made 8 but I imagine the battles are harder with better loot.

I really dont think the Dark Zone in the beta is a good representation of how it will be in the full game.

The beta only has access to a small part of the DZ so everyone is cramped up together in this small space. It's rarely worth going rogue in the beta because more often than not you'll die because everyone is right there ready to kill you. I think that once you have the whole DZ to play in and everyone is much more spread out that it'll feel a lot different.

That's a really good point. Every stream I watch it isn't as chaotic as people make it out to be.

It was chaotic as hell the first day, but everyone's figured out its much more beneficial to play nice than to go rogue. When you die as a rogue you lose a lot of DZ exp and currency, and with so many people cooped up in one zone the chance of dying after you go rogue is very very high. Right now its more cost effective just to kill NPC's and loot gear off of them instead of killing players for their loot. Once we have access to the full DZ I think it'll be a lot better. Killing other players has much more of an upside to it since survival will be easier if there arn't 30+ other players a stones throw away from you ready to kill you the second the little red skull appears over your head.

I think ultimately they envisioned the DZ to be more of a hybrid of PvE and PvP. It's supposed to be much more situational instead of just straight up competitive multiplayer. Like you see a group of players heading to an extraction point, all of them carrying gear. Do you want to risk the gear you've already gotten to take theirs, or do you try to work with them to get your gear out of the zone too? Do you pretend to work with them just to double cross them as the helicopter gets there?

The gameplay is a lot deeper when the fear of immediate reprisal for going rogue isn't as great.

Agreed. We've done some a-hole stuff to loaners, especially if they try to steal a spot in our chopper. most of the time we play pretty nice especially if we have good loot.

How many players are in the DZ on each server? It never seems like it's more than 15 or so. Have you read anywhere what the cap might be? I don't want a 64-man battlefield experience.

Yes, I think UBi hit a homer with this one. The seamless solo/coop/pvp play is pretty great. I also think because the XP and loot gains are better with teams people are more than willing to team up. I get half a dozen requests to join teams every time I'm in the DZ.

Just saw one streamer said he found the pc dark zone to be less cutthroat than Xbox.

That's because they're too busy sucking each other off.

Xbox pvp is pretty damn ruthless. The extraction zones are just insane. I'd say maybe 20% of the times I go to one does nobody try and kill everyone.

I really hope in the full game there is a way to inspect other player's gear. I'd love to see what others are rolling with.

Yea but right now I have my dps and my health/armor at 4500 each but my skill level is low.you can mix and match it anyway you want, but considering most of your skills are locked I overloaded on health and weaponry. And considering they already have purple and yellow gear going around it can get a little hectic not knowing who has what. By the time you find out its too late lol

All I know is I am now sporting a badass hunting cap, parka and a faaaaaaabulously trendy scarf.

Im also a 12/8 so the DZ is a bit more tame now. You gotta run with a crew in the DZ.

Crew is definitely a necessity. It is almost not even fun solo. However it is a total blast with people. Also, focussing on health/dps is key. The skills aren't that useful to have really strong. The bullet sponges are the way to go right now. In the pve stuff, dps and skills are how I roll though. Don't need as much health.

I would bet that will be a perk of some sort. At least it would be a good idea for one.
