Thoughts on Overwatch

What are the board's thoughts on Overwatch? Looks like fun but I don't know anyone who plays it. TIA

Best shooter since MW2. It'll never get old with all the content they keep adding

I'll probably get criticized for saying this, but it's a good, fun game, but IMO it wasn't GoT worthy.
The characters, gameplay, maps and Blizzards attention to ongoing changes are all excellent. But I just have never found it all that competitive. In my experience, games like Rocket League have been more gritty and competitive than my games of Overwatch.
One thing which I've heard from people first hand, and they all either like/dislike this characteristic, about the game is that it's a very easy game to play. Literally anyone can play it and doesn't require mastering any crazy controls or anything. It's also very straightforward.
I own the game, but I don't play a lot. Maybe 5-6 matches a month. You don't get anything other than some ranking points for winning a match, there is nothing on the line aside those points so for me, I don't feel you're really penalized for losing. No matter what, you can just queue right back up and play to your heart's desire without any real penalty for playing shitty aside from make believe ranking points, and unless you're a big time streamer/pro is irrelevant.
Like I said though, it is a good game. I just think it gets blown out of proportions sometimes from Blizzard blowhards.

A lot of fun but it's not Game of the Year. It is aching for a single player campaign.

I really like it, biggest problem is multiplayer matchmaking and not getting kicked out of lobby's after every match.

I mean, it's a game. You're knocking "make believe ranking points" in a video game. Any other system in any other game is just as artificial and I'm glad that there is no artificial penalty for newer player entering aside from their own skill level.
I'm sorry you need the game to offer you extra incentives to not suck.

Love the game. They continue to tweak it to try to perfect the game play and meta. Blizzard has done a great job with it so far but its not perfect.
This is one of my favorite FPS games I have played in a long time.

I was by no means great at the game, but I wasn't bad either. I main Roadhog and finished season one in Diamond.

current meta is trash and not fun to play at all imo....
i like playing the characters that actually require SOME mechanical skill like widowmaker, mccree, genji, projectile characters but atm... there's only one dps hero in the meta... and that's soldier.
It sucks that blizzards doesn';t have a failsafe guarding agains the three tank meta.
can't wait till this season is over.
