I have glimpses of memories of playing atari with my dad when I was 4 and 5, but that Christmas my cousin got a NES with Mario and Duck Hunt was magical. I think we spent the entire holiday in his parent's room (that was the only other TV in the house besides the living room) taking turns shooting ducks.........and that stupid dog. We ended up getting our own the next Christmas with John Elway Quarterback.

Haven't looked back since.

First thing I remember was watching my dad and brother playing Zelda.

Put Mike Tyson's Punch Out or Nintendo Baseball on that screen and you've got me. I played Mario, but as soon as I learned how to play, I gravitated immediately to sports games

RBI Baseball, Bases Loaded, NES Playaction Football, John Elway Football, Tecmo Bowl, Blades of Steel, Track and Field, Roger Clemens MVP Baseball..

Damn those were the days. I had to get my wife to buy me an NES/SNES and N64 USB controllers so that I could play ROMS on my Laptop. Nostalgia

When I was a young lad, I went to my cousins one day to hang out and they had a NES. Spent hours on the thing and me and my brother ended up getting one for Christmas that year.

John Elway Quarterback.

Loved that game. Instead of picking an actual play, you could put it on "reverse" like you were going to run the designed play but backwards but don't pick a play and he would run 10 times faster than anyone on the field. One of the first glitches I knew besides the Mario extra tubes, but didn't really consider those glitches.

That's all we ever did. Surefire way to make my brother's quit

This is where my NES was. Definitely kept us from playing all hours of the night too.

Randomly, I think the footage from that gif is from Vs. Super Mario...as in the arcade version and not the NES one.

Dork alert!!!

What makes you say that? Curious.

Not enough fighting with siblings in that gif. Especially when you would lose.

Or the fact that no matter what they were doing at the time, as soon as you would start playing, they would gravitate to the room and stand over your shoulder in a trance state................and then ask to play.

The sheer unbridled joy on the day my dad came home from a business conference with a NES, 2 controllers, the gun, & Mario / Duck hunt & Zelda is one of my earliest memories.

I think I was 5 or 6

I remember when the ps2 came out and had a built in dvd player. That was the coolest thing so I didn't even ask for one, my dad asked if I wanted it and I said hell yeah

It's been a while and I'm actually questioning myself now...

The bouncing turtles at the end threw me off and made me think of Vs. for some reason.

Am I one of the few people that didn't own duck hunt? I had the system that came with SMB solo and no gun. I never owned the gun
