Tarkov New Year Wipe Update and discussion

Just talked about the next patch, called the New Years patch, that will be 14.0, and Arena that will be released before.
Lots of info so I'll try to get everything for those of you interested in picking it back up or diving in with the new content and TDM mode.
So EOD will be discontinued soon, which will include Arena upon release. After EOD is no longer offered, you will have to buy both games separately.
Arena is releasing early December. Invites will come in waves to fix whatever early release issues they may have. It's their TDM gae version that admittedly I am not thrilled for. No word if it will include the new recoil system. He did say there will be a kill cam.
Patch 14 is highly anticipated and Nakita referred to it as the New Years patch, so I am guessing between Dec 27-Jan7th release. My buddies and I talked about some of the stuff during the video so here are some of the things listed.
New matchmaking service for faster load in raid times
New Map, Groundlevel. This will be for players under level 15/20 and scavs, presumably to allow new players to get quest items and such without running into gigachads every map.
No Unity engine update. This was the most disappointing news of the broadcast. They will try to update with Unity 2023 next year sometime.
Armor reworks and armor hitboxes. If you are looking for a reason to stay away from the game, this is the thing that will probably give you the most ammunition. I think they are going way too far with the realism here. Lots to discuss but overall I like this update the least.
There is a Shoreline update coming that he said was gamechanging. There is speculation that its a map expansion, I havent seen evidence yet.
Left handed shooting and new blind firing mechanics are being added to combat the OP right handed peek
New recoil system coming, which is still in development but looked very good to me.
Lighthouse support services which include buying Rogue support, which I think is cool as hell but who knows what all it entails.
New weapons, including the DMR Sig Spear
Questing will be rebalanced, adjusted, and new ones will be added
Hideouts will include achievements that wont reset, a trophy case for various items from different wipes, and a pet(?!)
Vaulting will be added and looks good
Theres other stuff like sharing your hideout and presets with friends to get meta builds and such. Ton of info.
Really looking forward to going for Kappa in 2024, should at least have something to show for it from this point on

what is this? i have the standard version of the game. haven't played in awhile. i can see myself giving TDM a try to get comfortable with the mechanics before diving back into the extraction aspect.

It’s the top tier package of the game. Basically you get a bunch of extra starting gear and your stash is max sized from the beginning.
The stash is the real reason to get it imo

Yes, you need Arena

I think $60
So if you have the standard version, you can upgrade to EOD and get stuff for EFT and you get Arena. Which is why they are removing EOD.

New wipe update
Bored at work and wishing I was playing tarkov, I would look into one of those handheld PCs if I didnt just spend $5k on plumbing and vehicle repair.
EOD is gone, end of an era.
Have not played, don't know anyone playing. Game died off tremendously after wipe. Don't think it was the "quick TDM mode" that people thought it would be. Still long matchmaking times, slow paced meds and janky kits to start off with. Not my cup of tea but if you like it, there you go
This is a fricking lie. However, if you click all servers under 150 ping on the launcher, you get in raids exponentially faster. They will probably be in Europe and youll get "awaiting session start" bug more often though
Cool map, too many players and player scavs initially but glad they added some quests to it.
There will be two ways to play this map, level 1-20 and lvl 21 and up.
Hasn't affected me personally as much as I thought, but def a controversial topic. One time I def raged bc of it but most of my deaths occur bc i suck
Lot to like about it, also pretty sure its the go to cheating map other than labs.
I dont even use it, I need to figure out key binds to make it viable

Trophy case is legit, no pet yet
Its good so far but being bound with jump is an issue. May need a new melee key and bind vault with V
Also, being able to see profiles of the people that kill you is interesting. You really go out of your way to figure out how they are cheating with awful stats

Arena is awesome but kinda broken when it comes to pitting you against higher classes. It's a grind to get to a character with decent armor/ammo but man its fun. Matches load quick, the tournament mode let's you watch dudes and heckle from the stands gladiator style etc. Rumor is they're gonna release some kind of link between your arena character and the pmc you use in raids. Not sure if it's just money or xp or both.
New map is cool but super congested. Reminds me of factory the way they spawn crews next to each other.
Eta read thru your long post, hop on a discord, join a 5 man, and give arena another shot. Try the tournament modes too. They made all the janky classes free, but you should spend some time looking at the skill tree and devote some time to unlocking a class with more punch. The free classes won't get you anywhere it's just for when you're broke.

This is pretty much the only appeal to me. If I can speed up the vitality push or level up my health or memory for the main game quests, then I may give it a shot. I just don't have the desire for straight TDM with these mechanics.

See post above. I don't really play TDM games anymore, so this just doesn't appeal to me the same way. Its early though, so I'm curious to see how they develop the game. I already have it so I don't have any issues waiting it out.
