And there is nothing stopping this train. Steam Spy has published its final Steam Sales 2015 report. And as we can see, Valve’s distribution service has sold over 350 million paid games, generating around $3.5 billion in 2015.

I buy the majority of my games from other sites like GMG now unless it's during a Steam sale because they usually have better discounts.

Yeah, I just buy the expensive Triple AAA titles from there because it feels safer if needing a return.

It's not the same. The install base for PC games is exponentially higher than a console audience. You don't have a standard machine and games like a $20 wood cutting simulator are on there.
Quality control and testing goes a long way. But if we are talking pure profits, then obviously steam's insane install base on all types of different hardware are going to put them over the top.

I wonder if this number includes CSGO cases, they make a shite ton of money on those things. I see streamers buy a lot of them because viewers like watching them being opened.

not apples to apples you have to place playstation in the spot of the word sony or Microsoft in spot of xbone, and I doubt sony laughs at Microsoft.

It doesn't.
No DLC or In-Game items are included.
