Star Trek Resurgence

This is one of my games of the year. It's essentially a Telltale game in all but name (studio formed by the previous CEO of Telltale). I am not necessarily a fan of Telltale games, but I do like Life is Strange and David Cage games. That said, the Telltale format works very well for Star Trek. This game probably encapsulates the spirit of Star Trek in video game form better than anything that has come before it. Although, you could make the argument that video games is not the best medium for Star Trek stories.
It's quite possibly the jankiest game I've ever played though. I don't mean janky in a broken sense like Cyberpunk 2077 or Assassin's Creed Unity. By all accounts, the game works, but it has a distinct low budget look and feel. Visuals can be decent at times when looking at character faces. In other times, the visuals look outright bizarre, especially he lighting.
Animations look like they were done by a game design intern. Cutscenes have this weird thing where they freeze in place for 1-2 seconds before switching to the next scene.
I kind of love the jank though because this is absolutely the kind of double A video game that I can get behind. It has a lot of heart and gets it right where it counts.
Doesn't quite stick the landing though from a story standpoint with the ending though. That's really the biggest criticism I can give it.
