Yes, I'm serious.

I originally bought the game a short time after it was first released for the Xbox One. I was very excited to play it, as I love open world games. The combat looked fun, the story looked intriguing, and the graphics looked stunning.

However, when I began playing, I found that the game was plagued by low frame rates, frame rate drop, clunky combat, lack of customization in character creation and in combat, repetitive storytelling (meet a person, go kill something, bring something back to person, move on), lack of meaningful lore, and a storyline that was VERY slow to start. I sold the game a few days after buying it.

I know it won game of the year, but looking at the lineup of game that was released that year, it didn't have much competition. AC Syndicate was bad, EA Battlefront was good but lacked a campaign, BO3 was meh, MGS5 was meh, Fallout 4 had about 15 hours of decent gameplay, Halo 5 continued the downward trend of the Halo franchise, Arkham Knight paled in comparison to Arkham City, and smaller games like Rocket League, Life is Strange, and Rainbow Six Siege were all good, but weren't produced on the same scale as TW3, so it's unfair to compare games like that.

As a series, I much prefer TES vs TW. What say y'all, tGamingRant?

Come on man. I wasn't very fond of the Witcher but this is just you being lazy.

You can't fully enjoy a game like the Witcher unless you have a great gaming PC. That's how I play it.

To be fair, I didn't have a PC back in 2015. I do now, but games like that should have been better optimized for consoles back then, as a grand majority of gamers were still on console at that time.

If a developer can't produce a game that doesn't have unreal frame rate drop on a major console, that's on the developer, not me as an owner of an Xbox that didn't have the money to buy a PC 2 years ago.

low frame rates, frame rate drop,

never experienced this in over 200 hours on PS4

lack of customization in character creation

You play as an established character, not some generic person you create. There's different types of armor if you just want to play dress up.

lack of meaningful lore

You sure you're talking about the right game? This so far from true it makes me think you never played it.

Again, I don't think you're talking about the right game. The graphics, lore, characters, and story are all top notch. It has me looking forward to the netflix series because there's so much material to explore.

Admittedly the combat was a bit clunky but it wasn't a huge problem. Everything else was really great though.

The framerate was pretty bad, at least around launch, especially in Novigrad. It wasn't the sort of game where the framerate bugged me too much though.

Some people criticized the story. I thought it was great, especially for an open world game. A game's storyline tends to suffer when moved to open world. Perhaps the transition was easier for the Witcher franchise since the series was always quasi-open world, but Metal Gear Solid 5, Dragon Age Inquisition, and Mass Effect Andromeda could learn a thing or two from Witcher.

It's a native 30 fps game on console, so the fact that you never experienced frame rate drop, especially during combat, is astounding to me.

Witcher 3 has some of the best story and side missions that don't feel at all like fetch quests. The contracts are basically fetch quests but they can be fun and you get some money. Saying the game doesn't have meaningful lore is straight up untrue. Try reading some of the books in the game. I almost feel bad for you having this outlook on the game. I can understand just not liking it, but most of your reasons are completely false. They completely overhauled the UI and made things a lot easier to navigate on consoles. Graphics aren't as sharp as they were around launch, but they downgraded some textures to improve the frame rate. Also, the two expansions are better than the main story IMO.

One of the earlier main quests involves digging up an aborted fetus/miscarriage from its desecrated grave who is haunting its fat drunk father and giving it a name and a proper burial, but only if you escort it properly while the father holds it

If that doesnt sound like fun then yeah, witcher 3 isnt for you

Not even gonna lie, my favorite quest throughout the entire game was in Hearts of Stone getting fricked up at the wedding with Shani and then taking her to the pound town later on

If you thought these were all problems with the game then you aren't ever going to like it and I feel bad for people like you who have to nitpick every masterpiece that's made available to the public.

I think witcher 3 sold better in its 2nd calendar year, than the first.

Which is amazing considering its a single player rpg

The DLC being Goat obviously helped

But, yes, like others have said, Witcher has world class lore and story-telling so you're talking out of your arse there. Once you kill the griffin and get out of the huge tutorial area the game is fricking huge and there is an overwhelming amount of stuff to do

And the game has been patched to hell since release so performance shouldn't be a problem. The UI is way cleaner now too.

Combat is clunky, though. I'll give you that.

Gameinformer listed the Blood & Wine DLC as one of the top 5 GAMES that year, iirc.

A dlc trounced almost all games that year.

I hate all DLC. My administration despises DLC. I refuse to tolerate idiot companies that steal content from the main game to push out crappy DLC.

I loved both of the Witcher 3 DLC stories.

Worth every penny and didn't even hate them a little bit.
