This game seemingly came out of nowhere to get phenomenal reviews, had never heard of it until hours ago. It is available on PS4 and PC.

Another horror game from the makers of Amnesia, and reviews thus far are extremely positive.

currently at an 86 metascore

Polygon: 90

I don't know if SOMA will scare people as much as Amnesia did, but it is without a doubt a stronger game, with better pacing, smarter writing and more powerful subject matter. This isn't a horror game about obfuscation; events aren't building to a huge, shocking twist. More than anything, it's about the process of dealing with the horror of reality.

I'm about 6 hours into the game and I don't have very many positive things to say so I'll list the worst parts. The game is very slow paced, It's not scary at all, and the controls are kinda clunky. I don't know if I will finish it. I had been looking forward to this game for months. So maybe it just couldn't live up to the hype I had built for it.

So, has anyone else picked this up? Looking for some opinions. Looks like it could be a really sweet game, love the environment, sci-fi elements, and atmosphere. Curious if anyone has played it yet.

I beat it a few weeks ago, enjoyed it, good game, last half of the game is great, first half is just okay.

It is definitely more suspense, than horror. There are few "scary" parts, but a lot of suspenseful moments.

Story is excellent and ending will leave you saying "damn".

I'll still probably wait for it to go on sale, though. My backlog is too big as it is. Although, I'm also not playing through most of my backlog because I'm never in the mood to play those games, so I might just pick this up anyway.

To the poster who beat the game, how long was the campaign?

Played it for an hour and a half or so. Not too scary, but very atmospheric. I just want to know what's going on. The story is so cool

Sounds good to me, love good stories and great atmosphere. Great atmosphere is why I've played through Metro 2033 and Last Light numerous times. Guess I'll need to pick this up.
