I'm not saying the game is still raking it in, but it's interesting that the highest grossing game in the series is where I feel, and I think a lot of others do, that the series started taking a dive. MW3 was garbage and I couldn't find one redeeming quality about it.

Interesting to see COD4 and WaW so low on the list, unit wise, considering a lot of people consider them the top 2.

Anyways, they are still going to make money. Absolutely the COD4 remaster will boost sales, but the new generation of gamers has no problem with the futuristic aspects like a lot of us do.

confirmed

quote:

The non-digital special editions of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will require the Infinite Warfare disc to be in the tray to access the highly anticipated Modern Warfare Remastered that is included, Activision confirmed today.

The publisher issued a clarified FAQ about how the updated 2007 classic is accessed when both launch Nov. 4. New fine print outlining the disc-insert requirement appeared on Call of Duty's official website over the weekend.

Notably, Modern Warfare Remastered must be downloaded fully from PlayStation Network for the PlayStation 4's physical version of the Infinite Warfare special editions. For the Xbox One version, Modern Warfare Remastered is on the Infinite Warfare disc, but requires an additional download before it can be played.

In both cases, the user needs an Internet connection to play Modern Warfare Remastered.

For the Steam edition, "A Steam key will be provided in the Legacy Edition of Infinite Warfare that will provide access to both Infinite Warfare and Modern Warfare Remastered." The FAQ doesn't say if the games are accessed separately or if Modern Warfare Remastered is accessed through the Infinite Warfare client.

These distinctions are important as they make clear that not only is buying either the Legacy, Digital Legacy, Legacy Pro or Digital Deluxe editions of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare the only way to acquire Modern Warfare Remastered, console users buying the Legacy or Legacy Pro edition must keep their disc if they want to play it. Activision's bundling scheme thwarts any plan to acquire one of the special editions, download Modern Warfare Remastered, keep that and then sell the remainder on the gray market or trade it in for store credit.

Ghosts killed CoD, so many people got and never came back.

Also 4 and WaW sold lower than the others because of the instal base at the time. Also started the hype train for the series.

Battlefield 1 will be too busy shitting all over either game for anyone to notice. Way to try and stay in the spotlight IW

The entitlement of some people boggles my mind sometimes.

Developers certainly have the right to sell games how they want to sell them, so I don't fault them for this situation.

However, it does speak volumes about the recent quality (or lack thereof) of their game when they force it on you this way.

Going in a different direction =/= lack of quality.

I get people not buying in, I swear. Most of the shite I'm giving everyone about this is just for fun. But again, this game will sell. I feel almost certain that the people who are going to not be able to resist getting the package just to play COD4 is going to be greater than anyone who might have given IW a try just flat out saying no out of disappointment. That's cash money, and smart. Of course they're not going to compete against their own release. They're counting on people having that internal debate of "buy the space shooter now to get what I want, or wait for perhaps 6 months for it be released on it's own".

Graphics quality, perhaps.

But COD 4 was the last COD I played extensively.

Then I bought the most recent COD when it came out, played it for 2 weeks and haven't touched it since. The quality of the experience is incredibly low to me and isn't in the same universe as something like COD 4.

For me personally as a consumer, I just don't trust COD to make a quality game that I'd want to purchase.

Again, that's preference. Advanced Warfare was extremely well made, even if people couldn't get into the mechanics. I can't speak for BLOPS3.

I'll just buy a used copy off of eBay a few months after release. I have no desire to play Infinite Jurassic Halofall Ops 9.

How? MW is a digital release and a used copy wouldn't have a usable code.

They aren't releasing a physical copy at all?!

ETA: Nevermind, I see what you mean.
