The Nintendo Switch successor will reportedly feature backward compatibility for physical and digital game copies.

The report comes from Portuguese website Universo Nintendo, which in the past has correctly published information about a number of Nintendo Direct presentations and the official title of Sonic X Shadow Generations ahead of its reveal. (Thanks for the spot, Eurogamer.)

Twitter account Centro Leaks shared a translated version of the details across social media, which claims that original Nintendo Switch games will be playable on the company's next console, whether you own them on a cartridge or via the eShop.

Developers can also supposedly "enhance" games released on the OG Nintendo Switch to take advantage of the Switch 2's extra processing power. That lines up with previous reports that Nintendo was showing a "souped-up" version of The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild running on the new hardware.

This would be great but I don’t believe any “reports” when it comes to Nintendo. Until they announce it, I think it’s not real. We still don’t even know if they’re actually getting ready to release a Switch 2.

I need something weird, like I can play submerged in a bath tub or connect it directly to my brain through my add-on receptors attached via my nipples.

Otherwise, it's not really Nintendo, ya know?

backward compatibility

i don't know why this has to be difficult for companies to implement. if PCs of today can play games from 15 years ago, consoles should be able to do it. and not by some cloud sever/streaming BS. it should be locally driven.

every game from the PS3 system should be backwards compatible. RPCS3 is cruel example of that. you got a bunch of computer nerds out there giving support for that system allowing PS3 games to be played on PC. if a bunch of nerds can do it, Sony can do it.

Interesting...

Does anybody know why Dragon Quest 12 isn't released yet? Any news?

I want Dragon Quest Builders 3!

Some podcast explained this so well a while back. You go to some place in Japan and order a hot tea, and you ask them for sugar. They will tell you "this is so much better with cream". You tell them "maybe so, but I'd prefer to have sugar" and they come back "but it's a lot better with cream....we'll get you cream, thank you so much".

So that's Nintendo.
