Rumor: No New Assassin's Creed game in 2016

The rumor here is that the next one will be in Egypt but they are taking a year off due to franchise fatigue. It also says that Watch Dogs 2 is rumored to be ready for the fall.
I thought Watch Dogs was crap and AC has run it's course but this is still a good thing if they leave annual releases and just rotate their properties each fall.

Watch Dogs was terrible. A fresh script of addy couldn't get me through that game.

They need to take AC and build it with MGSV type open mission structure.

I loved AC but after Black Flag I haven't played any of them. Glad to see they're gonna chill out for a bit and try and bring some new life to the franchise.
Syndicate looks alright. I might pick that up after a while.

I don't get the hate for Watch Dogs. More enjoyable than the majority of the Assassins Creed games.

I hope they do a remaster of the early games. Never played played them so it would be nice to play them on this gen

There are rumors of a collection also. Those older games needs remastered mechanics though. Not just graphics.

AC1 was one of the most disappointing games I ever played. Never picked up another one

I agree...it definitely had some good aspects and I did play quite a bit more than I thought I would.
At the same time it suffers from every other Ubisoft game like this. They put so much effort into the detail of the world and effects, but still fail to make it immersive.
