GTA online is still a blast if you have some money in your account. I couldn’t imagine just starting in the last 5 yrs or so

Ehh, MP in GTA5 is huge still to this day at least on PC where the modding community is massive. Game still peaks at around 200K on Steam.
Any given night it's one of the top played and top watched games still to this day. RP is huge.

Rockstar had a major culture shift 18 months after RDR2 released and some of the OGs at Rockstar have since left the company, all signs point to the game being woke, we'll see though.

Sounds like they're basically modeling it to be more like Fortnite to appeal more to young kids, from what I have been reading.
The original, more mature content is exactly what made the series popular with younger kids to begin with, so a departure from the gold standard would seem like a bonehead move to me.
Guess we'll see. Pardon my skepticism when I see that younger "new school" devs are taking over.
