Anyone replaced their PS4 hard drive? Did you put your game saves on the cloud or an external hard drive or both? TIA

Also did mine all on the cloud. I had mine saving to the cloud automatically since day one though as well.

I had zero issues. Only thing I had problem with was redownloading the PS software and it was only because I was an idiot and named the folder wrong.

I slapped in a 2TB about two months ago and wondered why I didn't do it sooner.

I did not use the cloud and mine went particularly smooth. I think it's a matter of personal preference. The cloud may be faster, but I wasn't racing a clock to get mine done.

It's an excellent upgrade. What size and type of drive are you going with?

2 TB Seagate. Was incredibly easy. Was done in 10 minutes. Currently redownloading some games.

I'd assume 99% of people will use a SSHD because a 2TB isn't $500 lol.

I do have a 2TB SSD though just because I got a good deal for two of them from a friend who works for Samsung. My load screens became much shorter, but obviously I don't advise that unless you have money to blow.

IGN did a write up regarding read time for the same games across different HDs. The SSDs did not perform well enough (to me) to warrant the price tag. Especially considering that once they die, they die. You can at least recover some data if a traditional HD craps out.
