Pokemon S&M Ultra Versions Announced

There is no reason to have this direct other than announcing a remake of the 4th generation or the supposed 3rd game in the 7th generation.

I wonder what the percentage of 3DS's sold have been because of the Pokémon series?
I've never had one but I'm contemplating picking up a used one because I never played anything past gold/silver.

This statement must be why I am so disappointed with the Switch so far. I bought my Switch thinking it was the successor to the Wii U. Instead there is 1 console-level game on it, only 1 more announced, and a shitload of fricking horrible handheld-level games.
EDIT FOR CLARITY: I love the Switch as a piece of hardware. I was absolutely blown away by it when I was playing BOTW on it upon release. I think it is magnificent.. Which is why I am so disappointed by the fact that none of the other games out for it are worthy of it.

Just as much people would buy ultra on Switch as 3ds. Most people on 3ds are going to be finished with that universe.

I mean I'll pick up Silver on 3DS just because it's the best one but it's hard as hell to look at the screen after experiencing the Switch. The 3DS is an eyesore at this point.

Install base of the 2ds/3ds is too large to make that assumption.
But I was not saying they should not make a real pokemon on switch. It would be a system seller for the switch. It just does not seem to be in the plans at all for game freak.
And it is for sure not in the plans for Nintendo to drop support for the 2ds/3ds. Not even a hint at this, and like I said before they even have a new model coming out next month.

I think it's for sure in the plans, this is just a money grab like Black/White 2 was for the DS when the 3DS was already released. The game will sell on whatever system it's on and right now there's just a lot more 3DS's out there, plus they only have to do minimal upgrades because they already have the foundation. When the Switch hits huge numbers after a year (which it will) Game Freak will be there.
