So I am trying to hook up my PC to my tv through a dvi to hdmi adapter. Now how do I get the sound to come out of the tv as well? I tried a double male audio aux cable only because I had one laying around. Any help would be appreciated. TIA

DVI doesn't carry sound.

But if your TV is on an HDMI source, it is listening for sound on the HDMI port, which is not there.

I'm pretty sure that means you won't be able to run any kind of adapter from the DVI port to magically run audio to the tv. I would just use a separate cable for sound, probably a mini Y adapter.

Buy a PC with an HDMI port built in like any model has had for years?

Hell my old Dell Inspiron Laptop from 3 years ago had an HDMI port.

You need to go HDMI on your video card to HDMI in your TV to get sound and vid.

Your only option to do sound is to run an audio cable from your sound card to your TV along with your DVI-HMDI tether.

Or get one of those switch boards which basically does the same thing anyway.

hdmi to hdmi doesnt always provide sound either. depends on your vid card.

if the tv has a port other than hdmi for pc vid in, use that. then run a separate cord for sound.
