I mean this wasn't that good of a controller in the first place:

But in 20 years all we've gone is from here:

to this:

Why the frick is the D-pad still so prominent when most games rarely use it if at all and they require your thumb to make a 90 degree angle compared to the average 10 degree natural angle the thumb goes in? It would be as if Nintendo just added shitty things to the side of the SNES controller rather than redesigning it entirely like they have been.

It's Frankenstein's monster at this point. The controller fricking blows, so redo it.

even though the xbox is an inferior gaming device at this point, the controller still kicks the shite out of the ps4 one

Yeah, look at their controller:

That's a thing of beaut. I'd like to get my hands around that thing.

Meanwhile in the last generation, Nintendo makes a secondary controller that isn't even required, and it's deemed one of the best ever, while Sony is still sitting on their piece of cave man technology with the same design for over 20 years:

And then Nintendo topped that with this one that they're selling for a ridiculous $70.

Say what you will about Nintendo and ripping off, but they know how to make a controller.

The Xbox One controller's bumpers suck arse. Heard this was fixed on the Elite controller, but I ahven't gotten one yet.

The 360 controllers is still the GOAT of GOATs

I don't mind the PS4 controller. Very ergonomic.

Agree on every point you made. Tempted to grab one of those Nacon Revolution controllers but $109 for a wired controller just doesn't sit right with me

The entire reason I don't own a Playstation is because of that controller. I hate it.

At this point, I'm just used to it. I have an XBox controller for PC games, but I'm used to using Dualshock. I wish it was just a tad bigger. My hands cramp if I put in a long game session. Maybe I have giant manhands or something.

The thumb sticks need adjustment, too. My thumb slips off the left stick.

No, it's because you have to put your thumbs constantly at a 90 degee angle to move your character. It is fricking insane to design a controller that way.

Just imagine if Nintendo or Microsoft in their next console said "Hey, we're going to make you move your character by putting your thumb at 90 degree angle". What would their users and investors say? They would say they're fricking insane and would loose shite tons of players.

The DualShock was a luxury from the start. Why as early as the PS2 didn't they put an analog stick on the top left of the controller like every other sane video game company has done?

There's a reason this is still in the debate for best controller of all time, and it's because it put the buttons and analog sticks exactly where you would want to press them, but also molded them in the place where you would most or least want to press them:

In that universe you live in, sure.

ETA And I loved my GC, but that controller was probably the worst I've used. Get your goggles off.

Its actually my favorite controller now. Feels really comfortable in your hand compared to my XBONE and PS4 ones.

Have you tried it? I thought it would be junk given their history with "Pro" controllers.

I do miss the offset analog set up but there's nothing really wrong with the PS4 controller. I absolutely hated the PS3 controller, but that was because it felt like cheap plastic, no weight. PS4 is solid and like any normal person, you get used to change. There's no hand fatigue at all. My only main gripe is how small and recessed the option and share buttons are, but I've gotten used to that as well.

I did a few weeks ago. It's a good controller, but it's nothing groundbreaking and honestly, it feels so great after you play around with those awful joycons.

Want to talk about a travesty of "controller" design...

Its not. But it is a damn good controller. It is just comfortable and damn does the battery last. The button presses are also really responsive and feel good. The triggers seem quick compared to standard XBONE/PS4 controllers.

Used them on day one, that is it. I bought a Pro Controller on launch because I knew it would be a problem. I mean look at that shtt. The left one isn't so bad but the right one is the real unusable one.

I played that 1 2 Switch garbage for a few, and they don't even feel comfortable just holding them in your hands. A few of the games the joycon kept wanting to slip out.

The GameCube controller is widely praised. There's a reason they keep on making that controller. The bumpers and the way the buttons were mapped and shaped. It was a thing of genius.

The entire reason I stick with XBox over PS is because of how shitty the PS controllers are.

Also the Joycon controller randomly unsyncs during the middle of a game. This is especially frustrating during Mario Kart. We bought two pro controllers and use those instead unless we have 3 or more people playing and those never unsync.
