I think they have been very guarded about how this game will be experienced and honestly don't want people to get the wrong idea about what the final product will be. I think it's smart to wait and see but not to write it off yet based on an unfinished build.

Pre-ordered after watching that Kengi leak. Looks and sounds pretty damn good to me.

Personally, I'm just trying to search planets for random things (treasures, animals, caves, etc) . I love the idea of exploring space stuff so this works for me.

The meltdowns have been glorious though.

The Kengi leak stream was way better. He basically played the game and let others decide what they thought rather than attention whoring like the daymeehun guy did.

I remember when the hype was spiraling out of control and someone said "This is the game Destiny should have been..." In what way does this game even resemble Destiny?

The concept is extremely solid, and they may have a patch that will fix some glitch issues, but the core of the game isn't going to change between what the guy played and the actual game.

The most disappointing thing to me was the graphics (or lack thereof).

It looked like a cartoon. I understand keeping the graphics a touch low to prevent lagging and crazy load times, but I think they went a bit extreme.

So this is just minecraft in space?

No plot just pure exploration?

I have seen this said a few times.

This is nothing like Minecraft to me. Minecraft is just a big arse sandbox where you use your imagination and build shite. Digital Legos.

No Man's Sky is nothing like that.

I hate statements like this. Bad graphics =/= intended look.

I was asking a question. I don't know anything about the game other than the ridiculous size.

Does it have a plot? If not, how is it different than Minecraft? Seem like you gather resources, fix things, build new things, gather more resources.

No Man's Sky is nothing like that.

Dual universe is closer to minecraft in space. it also appears to be a much better deeper game than no mans sky

funny how games keep getting compared to minecraft and people keep trying to replicate the magic of minecraft but failing.

If you go by that definition you could say that Civ5, Sim City or almost any of the survival games out there like H1Z1 are no different than Minecraft.

You are correct in that the NMS devs have been much more circumspect in describing their game. I just think that both are similar in being sandbox games that certain sections of the community treat as being a messianic revelation in video games.

Ok it looks like a cartoon with low quality textures, is that better for you. Basically what I was trying to say is the graphics actually look pretty good for No Mans Sky considering what is going on. It's no ARK but then again it doesn't run sub 30 fps on high end hardware.

I love minecraft. I consider it this generation's equivlant to mario, it took the world by storm and it spawned a whole sub culture and has it's own look and feel. It also captured the imaginations of kids immediately.

That said, there is a 2D game that took the minecraft formula and did it even better (in the 2D realm, anyways) and that was Terraria. I just bought it for my Vita and PS4 and I can cross play my worlds/characters between both devices. It is immensely fun and in parts deeper than minecraft.

The ONLY thing minecraft didnt attempt (and I'm talkin about vanilla) is to go into space.

NMS is in the same vein of minecraft, yet with the entire thing set in space and no building features. It is no means minecraft or even attempting to be. This game is about exploration. The graphics were chosen to look like this, inspired by old school SCIFI novels art work (literally Sean Murray told the lead art director to "make it look like old science fiction book jackets")

I think it's going to be awesome, the guy who made it to the center of the galaxy in 30 hours or so used an exploit in the game's economy to gain tons of money fast to upgrade his ship and it still took him 30 hours. If he didn't exploit the system, a bug that will likely be patched with the day-1 patch (esp now) it would have taken him much longer.

Add to the fact that this is just one of the aspects of "progression" I'm still not worried at all.
